I stumbled across this video today from Edith Widder titled, “Glowing Life in an Underwater World”. Anyone have a deep sea submersible that I can borrow?
Here are the notes about this video directly from the TED site:
Some 80 to 90 percent of undersea creatures make light — and we know very little about how or why. Bioluminescence expert Edith Widder explores this glowing, sparkling, luminous world, sharing glorious images and insight into the unseen depths (and brights) of the ocean.

Robin Blanca says
I think we know why sea creatures create light – because it’s dark down there. The how might be a little more interesting.
